Brief Introduction of Zhang Fei Temple
Zhang Fei Temple, a
magnificent historical site of China, was constructed in honor of the
valiant general Zhang Fei – one of the three sworn brothers of the State
of Shu during the Three Kingdoms Period (220-280 AD). (The other two
were Liu Bei and Guan Yu). Zhang Fei Temple located on the foot of
Feifeng Mountain at the southern bank of the Yangtze River and opposite
to YunYang Country, 380 km away from the downtown of Chongqing
Municipality. There is a legend said that in the late Three Kingdoms
Period, Zhang Fei was murdered by his two subordinates named Zhang Da
and Fan Jiang. His head was thrown into the river and later salvaged by a
fisherman who got a dream from Zhang Fei. However, the fisherman
salvaged a jar of gold by accident and used it to build a temple named
Zhang Fei Temple. With a history of more than 1700 years, Zhang Fei
Temple was built in the late Shu - Han dynasties first and later
expanded by Song, Yuan and Ming Dynasties. The original Zhang Fei Temple
has been moved to its new place in Panlong Town of Chongqing Yangtze River tour which largely remained true to the original after Three Gorges Dam completed.
Architecture of Zhang Fei Temple

Existing
building area of 1400 square meters of Zhang Fei Temple has mostly

exquisiteness of the southern ones, which made Zhang Fei Temple praise
as "Bashu Magnificent Scenery Spot".
On the second floor along the steep ladder, you will find the statues of the Three Sworn Brothers best tours of China.
The galleries surrounded were carved by famous calligraphy and
painting. On the third floor, there is a bronze statue of Zhang Fei with

Zhang
Fei Temple also remained lots of inscriptions, sculptures, paintings
and calligraphies by famous ancient figures such as Yang Zhenqing and
Sushi inside. Outside the Zhangfei Temple, a picturesque landscape full
of Huangjue (a kind of Chinese plants) ladders, stream across the stone
bridges, waterfall surrounded by tree vines, grass pavilion by side of
steam and ancient trees come to your eyes.
